Location
Spital am Pyhrn lies between the Warscheneck Massif and the Haller Walls at the foot of the Pyhrn Pass on the border with Styria.
Breathtaking mountain backdrops, gently rolling alpine pastures, glistening pistes, snow-covered heights and lovely villages - the holiday region in southern Upper Austria shows its most charming sides.
One of the honorary citizens of Spital am Pyhrn is Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, the first woman in the world to climb all 14 eight-thousand-metre peaks without artificial oxygen, who climbed the 8611-metre-high K2 on 23 August 2011.
